The St. Louis Plaster Bureau is an association of
professionals that has been serving the plastering needs of
the area’s construction industry for more than five decades.
We collectively consider ourselves to be the custodians of
the history of our trade, “the keepers of the knowledge”, if
you will.
The Bureau, with our labor partners, Plasterers’ Local #3,
is committed to providing St. Louis with the finest
plasterwork in the United States. Note the use of the word
“partners” to describe our labor/management philosophy. The
Bureau provides the framework under which management, labor
and supplier meet on a regular basis to continue our
tradition of mutual respect, trust and harmony.
The industry’s commitment to provide the best-trained
plasterers in this country doesn’t end there. We have also
embarked on an aggressive program to train our workforce in
the safe operation of man-lift devices/work platforms, and
the safe erection of scaffolding. Expanding on that
commitment the Bureau and Plasterers’ Local #3 have embraced
PRIDE of St. Louis’ goal of providing OSHA 10-hour safety
training classes to every union construction worker in St.
Louis. In the spring of 2006 those classes were begun and to
date over 150 plasterers have completed the program.

Our commitment to this community doesn’t end “in-house.”
The Bureau is actively involved in educating and assisting
the architectural community, providing the most up-to-date,
accurate plastering information available. We are proud of
our long-standing working relationships with the local
chapters of the American Institute of Architects, the
Construction Specifications Institute and the Construction
Products Council.
Our biggest highlight of 2005 came when the Bureau and its
EIFS supplier-partners were invited to participate in AGC’s
“Quality Construction Series.” We presented a multi-media
panel discussion on the proper installation of Exterior
Insulation and Finish Systems. Thanks to AGC, we were
afforded the opportunity to share our knowledge with a large
cross-section of the construction industry not available in
any other venue.
The future of plastering, as an integral part of the trowel
trades, is secure due to the wide array of quality products
we install. Whether the need is for EIFS, stucco,
conventional, ornamental, veneer plaster or the “new”
decorative, interior finishes, the St. Louis Plaster Bureau
can match you with the right product and the right
contractor.
